Trees Hate You is a deceptively simple game set during what should be a peaceful picnic in the woods. At first glance, everything feels calm and almost too easy—you're surrounded by tall trees, soft grass, and the gentle atmosphere of nature. It invites you to relax, explore, and enjoy the setting without much concern.

The woodland reveals its true colors as soon as you begin to play. Trees that were just standing there suddenly come crashing down out of nowhere. Signs, branches—basically anything around you—can shift or fall at the worst possible moment. I remember thinking it looked like a relaxing little game… and then getting completely caught off guard. What seemed harmless at first becomes chaotic fast, and honestly, a little stressful in the best way.
At the beginning, it feels like you’ve stepped into a quiet picnic spot—calm, safe, almost cozy. But don’t let that fool you.
Things get crazy at this point. Trees, signs, and random objects can drop or shift without any warning. You’re not just playing in the environment—the environment is basically playing against you.
The controls are super easy to pick up, which makes you think it’ll be a chill experience. It’s not. Once things speed up, timing your moves becomes surprisingly tough, and mistakes happen fast.
You really have to stay sharp. Dangers pop up out of nowhere, and if you hesitate even for a second, you’re done. It keeps you on edge the whole time.
No two runs feel the same. Sometimes you think you’ve got the rhythm down, and then the game throws something completely different at you. It keeps things fresh—and a little nerve-wracking.
It becomes more difficult the longer you live. More risks, less time to respond. It certainly puts your ability to concentrate and adjust rapidly to the test.
The way a happy picnic area devolves into complete mayhem is rather amusing. It takes you by surprise in a way that is both annoying and amusing.
Runs are short, which makes it really easy to jump back in. I kept telling myself “just one more try” to beat my last score—and yeah, that turned into way more attempts than I expected.
Arrow keys / WASD → Move your character
Spacebar → Jump or quick dodge (if available)
Esc / P → Pause the game
Honestly, yeah. It looks simple at first, but once the hazards start coming at you, it gets tough pretty quickly. You need quick reflexes and full attention if you want to last.
It feels mostly random while you’re playing, which is part of what makes it so intense. That said, after a while, you might start noticing small patterns in how things fall—but relying on them is risky. The game loves to surprise you.
Mostly random. Some events may feel familiar over time, but you can't fully predict when or where hazards will strike.
There’s no traditional “ending.” The goal is to survive as long as possible and beat your high score.
That’s part of the game’s design—it’s meant to surprise you and keep you alert at all times.
